A. Scott Toney

Originally from Orlando, Florida, Scott moved to Gainesville in 1986 to obtain his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, where he studied Criminal Justice. He then graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin School of Law and spent a few years working with civil litigation firms in both Orlando and Gainesville. In 2004, Scott made the move to launch his own law firm, wanting to create more personal relationships with his clients.
Scott?s reputation has grown steadily over the past decade, primarily through referrals made to him by his existing clients and other professionals with whom he has worked. He is the type of attorney who will make you feel at ease by talking with you instead of down at you about your legal needs. Many of his clients have expressed their delight with the compassionate and patient legal service he has provided; a fact of which he is extremely proud.
Scott is a member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar, the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and a member of the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. He is also admitted to the United States District Court of both the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida. Scott has been, and continues to be, an active member of the Gainesville community, sitting on several non-profit boards such as Children?s Home Society and Elder Care of Alachua County. He also serves as a speaker for many community events and forums regarding estate planning, elder law, special needs and probate issues.
In addition to the practice areas of estate planning, elder law and real estate matters, Scott also handles probate, trust administration, special needs trusts and guardianships. He stands ready at all times to assist you with your legal needs.
Scott resides in Gainesville with his wife, Donna Jo, and two daughters. In his free time, he enjoys deep sea fishing, boating, hiking, Gator football and spending time with his family.
Donna Jo Hansel-Toney

Donna Jo is proud to call herself a seventh-generation native Floridian, born and raised in Orlando. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and has worked in the legal field as a Court Reporter and as a paralegal in the areas of criminal, personal injury, medical malpractice, workers compensation, civil litigation, probate and estate planning matters. She now fulfills the dual role as Firm Administrator for The Toney Law Firm as well as Estate Planning paralegal.
After marrying Scott in 1991, Donna Jo made Gainesville her home. She is committed to the Gainesville community and is involved in leadership roles with local schools, nonprofit boards and civic organizations. In her spare time, Donna Jo?s favorite activity is being with her husband and 2 daughters. She also enjoys traveling, going to the beach and being with family and friends.
After graduating in 1999, she has worked in various legal fields including: Probate, Guardianship, Real Estate, Special Needs Trusts, Medicaid Planning, Estate Planning, Trusts, Insurance Subrogation, Litigation, Medical Malpractice and Family Law.
As Mr. Toney?s paralegal, she currently assists with matters including: Probate, Guardianship, Real Estate, Special Needs Trusts, and Medicaid Planning.
Daniel Fontana
Attorney at Law
Daniel was born and raised in south Florida before he moved to Gainesville to pursue his undergraduate degree in Political Science at the University of Florida. After graduation, he obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
Daniel began his legal career in Gainesville, practicing civil and criminal litigation, before moving to Washington, D.C. to serve as a legislative aide to his hometown representative in the U.S. House of Representatives. While working on the Hill, Daniel managed a wide range of policy portfolios, including Agriculture, Veterans Affairs, and Education. Eager to return to legal practice and to be closer to family, Daniel and his wife, Kelsey, returned home to Gainesville. He joined The Toney Law Firm where his practice includes probate, estate planning, and elder law.
In his free time, Daniel enjoys exercising, spending time with Kelsey and their two dogs, and, of course, Gator football.
Sara received her bachelor?s in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Florida and her law degree from the University of Florida?s Levin College of Law. She is certified in Land Use and Real Estate from UF Law and has experience in public services, landlord-tenant law, family law, bankruptcy, and estate planning and administration. In her free time, she enjoys music, barre fitness, yoga, biking, baking, hiking, travel, and spending time with familyJessy was born and raised in Michigan, where she attended Grand Valley State University. She moved to Gainesville in 2015, where she now lives with her husband and two daughters.As a Legal Secretary at the Toney Law Firm, Jessy assists with Special Needs Trusts and Estate Planning matters. In addition to these legal areas, Jessy has experience working in Construction Law, Real Estate Law, Property Management, Public Services, Property Preservation, and the Pharmaceutical Industry.
In her spare time she enjoys gardening, photography, Home DIY projects, crafting, repurpose projects, thrifting, and spending time with her family and pets.
