It was a typical day. The phone was ringing non-stop, Bill was in his office signing up a new case, Joe was in a deposition in the main conference room, Sally was talking to a new potential client and some gentle laughter was coming out of the kitchen. The dogs were engaged in a serious game of tug-of-war. A typical day.

Joe had settled the second largest case in history against Kaiser Northern California and was chosen to Northern California Rising Stars. Bill had hit a million-dollar verdict and was inducted as a Fellow into the International Society of Barristers, one of the most prestigious trial lawyer organizations in the world. They enjoy well deserved, great reputations.

I thought, well they are the future of this firm. And a bright future it is. I thought of my own career arc and just how lucky I've been to work with John Poswall, Mort Friedman, Dan Wilcoxen and Ed Freidberg. We all try to pay it forward and there comes a time to acknowledge greatness.
