Nicholas H. Vander Veen and Michael A. Brower met on their first day of class at DePaul University College of Law.Nicholas followed his passion for business and his family background in the dental industry to quickly become a highly sought after legal specialist within the dental field.Michael followed over four hundred years of family tradition in the liquor industry, becoming one of the top experts in his field.While Michael founded and built his own prestigious law firm - Stariha & Brower - Nicholas spent time in the "Big Law" world.Over the years, they found ongoing similarity in their practice areas and experiences, both of which heavily involved transactional law, business law, real estate, and operating within the confines of a regulated industry.The belief that their complimentary specialties were well-suited to cooperation and collaboration made them eager to build their own practice, one that would allow them to focus on their independent expertise while taking advantage of the strengths of each.By choosing their separate fields - and specializing in those fields - they decided to become completely devoted to their areas of law.By combining their efforts, they decided to become completely devoted to providing the best experience possible for clients across their respective industries.

Brennen J. Gorman joined the fold in 2012 when he began his first internship with Michael at Stariha & Brower. Over the next several years he worked in several capacities with Michael and was eventually offered a position out of law school. In the time since he has become an invaluable member of the firm and has taken the lead the firm's expansion into the rapidly changing world of medical marijuana.
