Our law firm was established by Michael Y. Lo, Esq., senior partner and founder of LO& LO, LLP. Mr. Lo began his legal career as a general practitioner in 1981 under the name the Law Offices of Michael Y. Lo. The firm changed its name to LO & LO, LLP in 2017, when two of his sons, Jonathan J. Lo, Esq. and Kelvin J. Lo, Esq. joined the firm as junior partners. The firm currently employs four attorneys: Michael Y. Lo, Esq., Jonathan J. Lo, Esq., Kelvin J. Lo, Esq., and Mikhail Liberzon, Esq. In addition to the four attorneys, the firm also employs a receptionist, a legal assistant, law clerks, and an account clerk/administrator.
Jonathan received his Bachelor?s degree from the University of California San Diego in 2009 and received his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern Law School of Los Angeles in 2015. During law school, he served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Neil Bason of the United States Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles, CA where he drafted memoranda and analyzed legal issues for Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy matters. He worked as a legal assistant and/or law clerk for the Law Offices of Michael Y. Lo, Esq. from about 2010 to 2015, on a variety of bankruptcy, estate planning matters, criminal law matters, ADA claims, personal injury, real estate and contract disputes, and intellectual property claims.
As an attorney since December 2015, Jonathan has handled several different kinds of litigation matters including bankruptcy, probate, criminal law matters involving felonies, misdemeanors, vehicular manslaughter, DUIs, and expungements of prior criminal records, conservatorships, trusts and wills, real estate, and contract disputes, ADA claims, medical malpractice claims, personal injury claims, and intellectual property claims.
Jonathan was selected to the Top Attorney?s list by Pasadena Magazine in 2018 and 2019.
Kelvin received his Bachelor?s degree from the University of California Davis in 2011 and received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in 2017. During his time at Loyola Law School, he served as a staff member and a Note and Comment Editor on the Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review. He also served as a judicial extern to the Hon. Robert N. Kwan at the United States Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles, California, where he drafted memoranda and analyzed legal issues in federal bankruptcy adversarial litigation and a variety of Chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy matters. As a summer law clerk at Geragos & Geragos, APC in 2016, he worked on several variety complex litigation cases. As a legal assistant and/or law clerk for the Law Offices of Michael Y. Lo, Esq. from about 2011to 2017, he worked on numerous bankruptcy and civil litigation matters.
As an attorney since May 2016, he has handled a variety of different areas of litigation including bankruptcy adversarial claims, ADA claims, insurance bad faith litigation, business and civil litigation, medical malpractice litigation, personal injury litigation, real estate, and contract disputes, and intellectual property, as well as drafting appellate briefs filed in the Court of Appeal of the State of California, Second and Fourth Appellate Districts, in 2019 and 2020.
Most notably, he was the lead chair in a week-long jury trial involving non-competition and breach of contract claims, where the firm obtained a unanimous jury verdict in favor of the client, resulting in an award of significant monetary damages and injunctive relief (Anson Chhouy Chao dba Linda?s Donuts v. Chhoeuth Chhour and Chanley Ke, Riverside County Superior Court Case No. RIC1718857).
He was selected to the Top Attorney?s list by Pasadena Magazine in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
From 1981 thru the present, the firm has served clients large, medium, and small, internationally and locally in the Southern California area, and has earned a reputation as a firm that takes care of its clients.
Over the years, the firm has handled cases that are too numerous and routine to mention. Notable involvements worth mentioning, however, included, but are not limited to:
China Airlines Flight 611 accident case. On 25 May 2002, the Boeing 747-209B operating the route disintegrated in mid-air and crashed into the Taiwan Strait killing all 225 people on board. The firm represented a decedent?s estate and won a substantial settlement from the defendant China Airlines;
Southern California Gas Company stove explosion case in which the firm represented a victim of the incident. The case went to the jury trial but the firm did not prevail;
The firm applied and received a Temporary Restraining Order against Southern California Edison which improperly shut off service to the client. This case had received extensive news coverage which led Edison to quickly restore the service, and the case was then settled in the client?s favor;
The firm co-represented a Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed semiconductor manufacturing company on a multi-million-dollar breach of contract claim that went to the jury trial. The case eventually settled to the client?s satisfaction after a motion and hearing after the trial;
In 2019, the firm won a jury trial on copyright infringement and breach of non-competition claims with a unanimous jury verdict.
The firm has extensive experience in bankruptcy law, civil litigation, business law, estate planning, probate, and personal injury practice. The firm has handled innumerable Chapter 7 and 13 cases from start to finish. As to Chapter 11 cases, the firm has acted as reorganization counsel to a variety of individual and corporate debtors. Since 1981, the firm has handled or been involved in a total of twenty-five (24) Chapter 11 cases?19 of which the Firm acted as reorganization counsel, one as special counsel, and four as creditor counsel. The firm has represented clients in the prosecution and defense of adversary proceedings and is familiar with motion practice in bankruptcy courts.
