Tracey Lane Russo grew up in Tennessee and, in 1993, earned her undergraduate degree from New York University where she graduated magna cum laude and was named a Founders Day Scholar. In 1997 following her graduation from the University of Connecticut School of Law she clerked for the Honorable Francis X. Hennessey of the Connecticut Appellate Court. After completing her clerkship, Ms. Russo joined the New Haven office of a large, international law firm where she focused her practice on civil litigation.
In 2011 Ms. Russo opened her principal office in Orange focusing her law practice on all aspects of family law - from prenuptial agreements to divorce - as well as the litigation of complex medical malpractice and personal injury cases.
Ms. Russo's love of the courtroom started during her second year of law school as part of the clinical trial program and, the week before her law school graduation, she argued her first appeal to the Connecticut Appellate Court. She has dedicated her career to the courtroom and that, in turn, has made her an effective family lawyer because she understands the costs -- both financial and emotional -- of taking a case to trial and the risks that come with it.
Ms. Russo knows that her clients do not come to the decision to separate lightly and, when the decision is not mutual, come to her office with a great deal of pain. She draws on her own experience as the child of divorced parents who, in time, remarried wonderful people who have been an integral part of her life as supportive stepparents.
Ms. Russo lives in Orange with her husband Greg and their three children. She serves on the executive board of three local charities -- the Literacy Volunteers of Southern Connecticut, the Nicole Donzello Foundation, and Amity Pop Warner. She is a past vice chair of the Amity Board of Education.
Ms. Russo is a member of the Milford Bar Association and, in addition to speaking at seminars focused on trial preparation and presentation, served as a past adjunct professor for first-year law students at the University of Connecticut School of Law.
