Matthew specializes in handling all aspects of the firm's wills, trusts and estates practice, including basic and complex planning, revisions to existing plans, probates, and trust administration. In addition, Matthew has a detailed understanding of California's long-term care Medi-Cal program and assists clients with planning for the eventuality of facing significant long-term care costs, as well as managing and preserving assets to this effect. Matthew advises clients on every stage of the Medi-Cal process: from initial eligibility through protecting against recovery claims or "Medi-Cal liens." This includes administrative appeals, court proceedings, share of cost determinations, annual Medi-Cal eligibility redeterminations, and balancing long-term care needs with important estate, gift, income and property tax considerations.
Prior to Avedikian Law, Matthew practiced at the Walnut Creek office of a prominent East Bay firm handling general business and corporate law, real estate transactions and leasing, and nonprofit formation and governance. Matthew began his career counseling entrepreneurs and small business owners on business planning and transactions, succession planning, commercial leasing projects, and property acquisitions in a leading Central Valley firm. Matthew draws on this experience to manage the firm's small business planning and transactions practices.
