Stanley Sporkin graduated from Pennsylvania State University and received his law degree from Yale University. Sporkin spent twenty years with the SEC serving the last seven as the Director of the Division of Enforcement. He then served five years as the General Counsel of the CIA.
In 1985, President Ronald Reagan appointed him to the Federal Bench where he served as a United States District Court Judge for the District of Columbia for 14 years. Upon retirement from the Bench, Judge Sporkin spent six years as a partner with the international law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. He was also a founding partner of the law firm of Freeh, Sporkin & Sullivan (now retired).
Since 2006, Sporkin has been the Ombudsman for BP America, Inc. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
