HISTORY

Established in 1916, Barnard Iglitzin and Lavitt LLP has supported the labor movement since the days of the Great Railroad Strike, the Seattle General Strike, and the Industrial Workers of the World. Helping unionize the West Coast ports after the 1934 West Coast Waterfront Strike BI&L stood side by side with labor unions, surviving some of the country's harshest labor strife of the Depression, and has continued to stand side by side, both supporting and advising labor unions in the northwest and beyond, for the past 90 years.

From our Seattle base, the firm currently represents over 50 public and private sector unions across the nation. From organizing to negotiation, BI&L strives to be a full service labor law firm, concentrating on preventive law in an effort to minimize legal costs, and ready to meet the needs of labor unions of any size. Innovative tactics, aggressive defense and strategic organizing lie at the heart of a practice founded on almost a century of experience.
