Originally formed as Barry, McTiernan, Treanor & Moore in October 1930, the Firm continues to have a significant and effective presence throughout the Tri-State area. Since its inception, the firm has handled all types of traditional and emerging defense litigation such as automobile, civil rights, construction, construction defect, elevators, employer's liability, medical malpractice, premises liability, products liability, property damage, sexual assault, sidewalk and "slip and fall" accidents.

The firm has also defended many clients in mass tort and toxic tort litigation, including the areas of asbestos, benzene, chemical exposure/chemical sensitivity, latex, lead poisoning, mold, repetitive stress and "sick building syndrome." The firm has represented manufacturers and distributors, as well as commercial and residential building owners. In defending clients in this type of complex litigation, the firm focuses on developing strategies early in the litigation in partnership with the client to achieve successful results in the most cost-effective manner possible.

The firm has vast experience involving high exposure and sensitive litigation in cases of sexual harassment and sexual assault filed against municipalities, foster care agencies and religious organizations. The firm has represented numerous clients in cases arising under Title VII and related state and local statutes for wrongful discharge, harassment, discrimination and other employment-based claims. Finally, the firm has been successful in litigating claims filed under the ADEA, ERISA and other federal statutes.

The Firm's main office is located in the historic Financial District of Lower Manhattan. With its main location at 101 Greenwich Street (2 Rector Street), 14th Floor, the office services the City's five boroughs as well as Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The Firm also maintains offices located in Westchester County serving the counties north of New York City and Rochester serving upstate New York. We also maintain offices in Edison New Jersey and Trevose, Pennsylvania.
