2015 marked Smith, Currie's 50th Anniversary. We are grateful to all of the clients who placed their trust in us over the past five decades. We will work to deserve and maintain that trust during our next 50 years. We are also grateful to our employees, past and present, for their service. The hard work of these dedicated employees has been and remains essential for delivering the quality service our clients expect and deserve. Lastly, we are grateful to our families and friends for their constant support.

Perhaps the most significant part of Smith Currie's 50th Anniversary celebration was our Fifty for 50 Campaign, a series of fundraising efforts and charitable and community outreach activities that our attorneys, employees, and families participated in throughout 2015. The following is a sampling of the firm's activities.

Newnan High School Donation: A group of Special Education students from Newnan High School in Newnan, Georgia were taken to Stevi B's Pizza for a community-based instruction trip using funds donated from the Smith Currie Foundation. The students were able to independently handle real-world tasks like ordering from a menu, selecting their own drink/pizza, and paying for their meal.

MLK Decatur Service Project: The Atlanta office participated in the MLK Decatur Service Project in Decatur, Georgia, working with members of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church to provide free house repairs and yard work to seniors in the historic Oakhurst neighborhood.

Blanket and Coat Drives: The Atlanta office collected blankets and donated them to the Atlanta Mission on one of the below-freezing nights in the city. DC office members teamed with tenants in their office building to collect coats and blankets for homeless shelters in the DC area.

Donations to California Charities: San Francisco office members made donations to local charities Bridges to Prosperity and Ruby's Place in Oakland. Bridges to Prosperity provides isolated communities with access to essential health care, education and economic opportunities by building footbridges over impassable rivers. Ruby's Place assists women in crisis and their children by providing a safe, temporary home and support services.

Valentines for Seniors: Atlanta office members made valentines for residents of Westminster Commons, a nursing and rehabilitation facility in Atlanta. The firm also donated two portable radio/cd players for use in music therapy and other activities.

Becca's Closet: The Atlanta office coordinated a dress collection and volunteer efforts to help Becca's Closet which provides formal attire to high school girls with financial need who otherwise would not be able to attend their schools' military balls, homecomings and proms.

Tour de Broward: The Fort Lauderdale office employees and families participated in the Tour de Broward to raise money for the Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.

Red Cross Blood Drive: Smith Currie employees, family and friends donated 25 pints of blood during a blood drive in the Atlanta office.

Go Red for Women - Heart Awareness Month: As part of Heart Awareness Month, the employees of SCH firm-wide wore red in support of ""Go Red for Women."" Employees in each office were challenged to wear red and pledge funds to the American Heart Association.

Fight for Air Climb: San Francisco office members raised money for the American Lung Association by participating in the Fight for Air Climb.

Dancing Stars of Atlanta: Smith Currie sponsored dancer David York, who raised funds for the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Overton Currie, a Smith Currie founding partner who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure: Employees of the DC office participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Back to School Drives: Atlanta office members donated school supplies to help Fill Their Backpacks at the Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School. The Fort Lauderdale office participated in ""Pack the Pack,"" collecting new backpacks and supplies for donation to the Fort Lauderdale community.

Lawyers for Children America (LFCA): The Fort Lauderdale office held a fundraiser for LFCA, a child advocacy organization that protects the rights of children who are victims of abuse, abandonment, and neglect.

Habitat for Humanity: The Washington DC office donated a refrigerator and made a monetary contribution to Habitat for Humanity.

Potter's House for Women: Atlanta office members collected clothing to donate to the Potter's House for Women in Jackson, Georgia, a non-profit, residential, healing home for addicted women.

Marrow Donor Registry Drive: Smith Currie employees joined the ""Be The Match" registry of bone marrow donors.

Women's Community Kitchen: A team of Smith Currie staff members prepared and distributed snack bags to the women and children eating lunch at the Women's Community Kitchen.

Operation Gratitude: Atlanta office members made paracord survival bracelets for inclusion in Operation Gratitude care packages for members of the military.

Nicholas House Dinner: Atlanta office members prepared and served dinner to the families living at the Nicholas House. The firm also donated a new microwave oven for the house kitchen. Nicholas House is the only shelter in Atlanta serving homeless families regardless of family makeup.

Help Build Hope: Help Build Hope provides assistance to partnering organizations in an effort to reduce poverty housing. At the firm's October retreat, Smith Currie lawyers framed walls for a home that was then donated to a partnering organization for placement in Macon, Georgia.

Toys for Tots: Several Smith Currie offices participated in the Marine Corps' annual Toys for Tots drive. The DC and Fort Lauderdale offices set up drop boxes for toy collection where hundreds of toys were collected. In Atlanta, staff members baked homemade goods for the firm's annual Toys for Tots bake sale.
