Founded over 100 years ago, the Dunn Law Firm, LLP is among the oldest law firms in the United States.
Centrally located in Illinois with offices in Bloomington and Pontiac, the firm was founded in 1915 and offers a wide-ranging complement of practices including immigration, business formation and counseling, litigation, probate, estate planning, real estate, tax and employment law issues as they pertain to businesses, professionals, universities, government and public entities. The Dunn Law Firm has developed a global practice but it continues to operate under the sound ethical principles and solid Midwestern values of its founders.

Our History
The Dunn Law Firm was founded by Richard F. Dunn in 1915. Due to his distinguished legal career, Illinois State Normal University named Dunn Hall in honor of Richard F. Dunn in 1951, and in 1953 he became the attorney for the Illinois Teachers College Board, and began a nine year term as a Director of the Peoples Bank. In 1958, he became a member of the Board of Trustees of Illinois Wesleyan University.
The oldest son of Richard F. and Clara Huxtable Dunn, Richard T. Dunn earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry, serving more than 5 ? years on extended active duty during World War II. When the war ended he obtained his law degree from the University of Illinois and joined his brother Robert and his father practicing law as the Dunn Law Firm. Richard T. Dunn remained active in the Illinois National Guard raising to the rank of Brigadier General and commanding the Guard with great distinction during civil disturbances in the mid and late 1960s. He became President of the Association of Commerce in 1961, and in 1963 began his service as a Director of the Peoples Bank for many years. He served as legal counsel of the Board of Governors of State Colleges and Universties, the governing board for five of the state universities of Illinois.
Mark T. Dunn, the second oldest son of Richard T. Dunn, joined the Dunn Law Firm in 1979 and extended the Dunn Law Firm's role as legal counsel for the Board of Governors of State Colleges and Universities. He also served as General Counsel or Legal Counsel to several institutions of higher education in Illinois. He was admitted to the Illinois U.S. District Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court. His successful higher education and appellate practice spanned decades until his retirement from the firm.
Over the years several other distinguished attorneys have been members of the firm. Those have included: William M. Goebel, Louis F. Ulbrich, Justice Robert C. Underwood, Justice James A. Knecht, Merrick C. Hayes, Thomas Jacobs, David S. Dunn, Helen Ogar, William T. Hundman, Kenneth G. Kombrink, and Donald A. Willard.
