The Element IP team comes from a variety of backgrounds in industry, academia, and law. We are comprised of both long-time and recently rising leaders of a pre-eminent chemical patent group and its most adept practitioners.

The attorneys of Element IP met during their tenures at one of world?s most renowned intellectual property law firms. Our professionals include three generations of patent attorneys from a chemical practice group known for its leading work handling patent applications before the USPTO. This work was undertaken at the behest of some of the most well-known chemical and life sciences companies from around the world.

Although our personnel have enjoyed significant success at a large intellectual property firm, it became apparent over time that the structure of an organization of this size is not conducive to the dynamic marketplace for patent procurement. The requirement for high-level knowledge and technical talent in practice will forever persist, but the feasibility of maintaining a large physical location has diminished in a changing legal scape. High staff-to-professional ratios, proprietary IT platforms and other substantial expenses cannot be squared with clients? expectations of recurring costs of obtaining and maintaining a valuable patent portfolio. Thus, Element IP was conceived to protect and preserve what is valuable to our clients ? quality legal work, reliable docketing and document management, and administrative accuracy ? and to cast aside what is not ? large offices, complex IT infrastructure, and redundant staffing. The end result is a firm that ably and stably meets clients? demands for excellence and cost performance.
