Sierra IP Law, PC - Patents, Trademarks & Copyrights was founded in 2011 by patent attorney Mark D. Miller. Before that time, Mr. Miller was a shareholder at the Fresno law firm of Kimble, MacMichael & Upton which closed as a result of the 2008 economic downturn. During over 25 years of practice at that firm, Mr. Miller developed considerable knowledge and expertise in all areas of intellectual property law, which he brings to the clients of Sierra. Attorney William K. Nelson began working in the intellectual property field in 2008, primarily in the area semiconductor and electronic technologies. Mr. Nelson joined Sierra in 2013, and developed broad technological expertise assisting Sierra clients from many different industries, including agriculture, irrigation and water treatment, biotechnology, energy technologies, electronics, medical technologies, assembly line machinery, packaging technologies, automotive technologies, and others. Mr. Nelson became a Sierra shareholder in 2017.
Sierra has additional technical professionals, engineers Daniel Calderon and Joseph Mejia, who provide technical support in variety of electrical, mechanical, and computational technologies. Dr. Katherine Waselkov is a consultant with the firm, and provides expert knowledge and analysis in relation to our clients? botanical and plant-related innovations. Dr. Waselkov is an assistant professor in the Biology Department at CSU Fresno.
On the administrative side of things, Deniece Turner acts as the office administrator and paralegal for Sierra. Ms. Turner has worked with Mr. Miller since 2004, and came to Sierra when it was founded in 2011.
