I work hard to stay current on the ever-changing law. I monitor the appellate courts for new opinions that affect my clients and I regularly attend continuing legal education classes. In fact, I attend so many legal education classes that I am a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas which is an honorary society of lawyers who are among the best trained attorneys in Texas.

My education pays off for my clients because I meet with my staff regularly to discuss changes in the law and I spend thousands of dollars per year maintaining subscriptions for legal research services and publications that affect my clients. This expense is essential because the law is always changing and no two cases are the same and no two legal publications are the same?even those covering the same issues. Since these legal subscriptions are so expensive, many attorneys keep their subscriptions to a minimum thinking the expense is not cost-effective. I see this as being penny-wise and pound-foolish while doing a disservice to the client.

In addition to continual education, I make sure my firm is always state of the art when it comes to technology. All of my clients' files are scanned using our high-speed scanners. The files are then encrypted and stored locally and in the cloud. I can access all of my clients' files, my research and all other information relating to my office from anywhere I can access the Internet. All of the computers in my office are encrypted to protect client information if they were stolen. This new technology allows my staff and me to more efficiently represent our clients.
