He attended Wesleyan University and graduated with a BA in Latin American Studies and Spanish Literature and subsequently worked in the nonprofit sector for four and a half years before attending law school.
He attended the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he also completed a certification program in international human rights law. Her work after law school has always focused on immigrants, their rights from a human rights perspective, and from the immigration perspective of the United States.
