Ren?e is a magna cum laude graduate of Boston College Law School.She practiced for 12 years as a patent litigator at two of the best law firms in the country, obtaining top-notch strategy and litigation skills, unparalleled by many family law attorneys.She has been practicing exclusively in the area of family law for the past seven years, first at Delaney McKinney, LLP and now at her own firm.

As a family law lawyer, Ren?e has represented both men and women in high conflict custody cases, litigated custody and child support in DC Superior Court and Montgomery County Circuit Court, participated in the amicable settlement of numerous cases and worked to value businesses and determine the equitable distribution of assets in the millions.Although not yet ranked in Washingtonian?s top family law lawyers, Ren?e has taken many of those lawyers on and prevailed.

With her excellent litigation skills, her financial acumen, but most importantly, her empathy for and natural inclination to work on behalf of children and families, is the perfect balance of skills for a family law lawyer.

Ren?e is also trained in Collaborative Law. She was selected to serve on the D.C. Superior Court?s Council on Child Abuse and Neglect, representing parents and children in neglect cases.Ren?e volunteers in the DC Superior Court Family Law Self-Help Center and participates pro bono in the Family Court?s Attorney Negotiator Program, working with pro se litigants to settle their family law matters before they appear before the Court.

Ren?e?s interest in working on behalf of family and children started in 1989 when she was a teacher in a South Central Los Angeles high school after graduating from college. She worked for and on behalf of children when she handled family law cases at the Legal Assistance Bureau in Boston, Massachusetts, representing low income clients in divorce and custody cases. While building her career as a patent litigator, she continued to serve children in a pro bono capacity.Ren?e trained and volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate ? a judge-appointed advocate for abused and neglected children in the dependency court system. She taught Constitutional Law seminars at an alternative high school in San Diego, California.Ren?e also served as a guardian ad litum in adoption cases.

Ren?e graduated with a B.A. from the University of Southern California in 1989 and received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Boston College School of Law in 1996. Ren?e is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia, Maryland and California.She is a member of the American Bar Association, Family Law Section, the Montgomery County Bar Association, Family Law Section, the District of Columbia Bar, Family Law Section and the International Association of Collaborative Professionals.
