North & Deutsch LLP was formed in 2013, by the merger of two, longstanding leaders in personal injury law: Steven E. North and Laurence M. Deutsch.

Mr. North, with more than 40 years, and Mr. Deutsch, with more than 25 years in the field, have attained some of the highest recorded verdicts in New York State. Their peer attorneys recognize them as "lawyers lawyers."

Both men have published and lectured extensively about personal injury and medical malpractice law, including invitations by the New York State Trial Lawyers Association to teach other attorneys about medical malpractice law and trial practice.

Steven E. North established his solo plaintiff's practice in 1986 and has been at the receiving end of many honors. Every year since 2005 he has been named to New York Magazine's list of the "Best Lawyers in the New York Area," and he has been recognized as a New York Super Lawyer as well. In addition, Mr. North was chosen as "Lawyer of the Year in Medical Malpractice" by the Best Lawyers organization, an honor that goes to only one attorney per year. He was also named one of the Hundred Best Lawyers in the New York metropolitan area in a special New York Times supplement. Mr. North serves as a guest presenter to senior medical residents at hospital grand rounds and is often invited to speak at annual medical society conventions.

Laurence Deutsch has achieved some of the leading verdicts in counties throughout New York State, including many Upstate. He has been recognized for attaining one of the Top 20 Verdicts in New York State by Topverdict.com and included in the Verdicts and Settlements Hall of Fame by the New York Law Journal. Mr. Deutsch also received the highest rating from the Avvo rating service and been awarded the Distinguished Attorney rating in national peer attorney reviews.

Mr. North and Mr. Deutsch co-authored two chapters in New York State Bar Association publications. The most recent, "Preparing for Trial" is for the 2017 edition of Medical Malpractice in New York. They also co-wrote the "Medical Malpractice" chapter of The Plaintiff's Personal Injury Action in New York State (2014).
