Born and raised in East Tennessee, Mr. Porter attended public school in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where his mother is an elementary school teacher. Growing up, he sold Christmas trees, mowed lawns, and worked at a local hotel.
Mr. Porter attended Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Murfreesboro, TN, where he majored in Political Science ('06 B.S.), and double-minored in Communications and Global Studies. While at MTSU, Mr. Porter was inducted into the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
After graduation, Mr. Porter moved to the Czech Republic. Living in the capital city of Prague, he taught English to business executives in the financial sector, while traveling as often as possible.
