Carmelia Taylor, Esq. was born in New York to Barbadian and Trinidadian parents. She lived in Barbados in early years, where she attended primary school. Eventually returning to New York to finish her studies. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the State University of Binghamton and a Juris Doctor degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law. For more than twenty years, she has handled the gamut of immigration matters. Her passion for immigration law stems from the simple beginnings of her own family, who came to the United States in the 1960's and relied on immigration lawyers to resolve their immigration problems. She was the first member of her entire family to be born in the United States. She fondly remembers all the trips the family would take to the immigration lawyers office to support other family members with their own challenges. As a child, her goal was to one day assist her family members and anyone who faced similar challenges. She achieved her goal when she helped over 10 of her family members with their naturalization matters. And has exceeded her goal in helping numerous families resolve their deportation, naturalization, employment, and asylum issues. Ms. Taylor served on numerous Executive Boards of Jack & Jill of America, Incorporated and the Links, Incorporated. She provides community service and pro bono work at Family Ties of Westchester County, New York. She taught Immigration Law at Lehman College. She lectures before audiences on various immigration topics throughout the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
