Founding Partner David Ottenwess has practiced law in Michigan for more than thirty years. David co-founded the firm, originally known as Wulfmeier and Ottenwess, P.L.C. in 1997, and has continued to serve as the Managing Partner as the firm has continued to evolve and grow over the past twenty years. David?s practice is rooted in litigation, with unparalleled experience in medical malpractice and professional liability defense.
As the firm grew over time, David added talented Partners and Associates who not only complimented his experience and expertise, but also diversified the firm?s practice areas. As a result, the firm?s initial expertise in professional liability defense and general litigation soon began to broaden into the business side of medicine, as the constantly shifting regulatory environment demanded the addition of healthcare transactional expertise. Today, we have successfully merged the litigation and business side of healthcare related matters, which includes billion-dollar healthcare clients in addition to individual physicians, professional partnerships and physician groups, clinics, and various hospital systems throughout Michigan.
Beyond healthcare law, David Ottenwess has also developed an expertise in the field of Public Utilities, through his service as Special Master to U.S. District Court Judge Sean F. Cox, in helping to resolve the 36-year old compliance litigation involving the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.
