Miriam Dant is widely recognized as a skilled government affairs professional whose broad experience enables her to craft solutions for her clients.
She has been listed in Best Lawyers?, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession, since 2007, including being named Indianapolis Lawyer of the Year for Government Relations in 2016 and again in 2018.
The Indianapolis Business Journal and Indiana Lawyer named Miriam among the "Influential Women in Indianapolis." The IBJ also recognized her in its "Forty Under 40," a list of young professionals who have demonstrated leadership, initiative and dedication in their careers.
Miriam served from 1993 to 1997 as Gov. Evan Bayh's adviser on environmental and energy issues. She previously served as Counsel to the Indiana Secretary of State and as Indiana securities commissioner under Secretary of State Joe Hogsett.
Miriam worked as a litigator at the law firm of Baker & Daniels and practiced in the firm's government affairs group, becoming a partner in 1998 and representing clients at the Statehouse. She handled all areas of state and municipal government on issues including environmental regulation and policy, utilities and energy, taxes, transportation, economic development, general business issues and government procurement. She founded Dant Advocacy Inc. in 2006.
She currently serves as president of the Jewish Community Relations Council board, and on the board of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. She is an appointee of Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard to the Carmel Music and Film Festival and the Carmel Midtown Building Corporation, and is a past president of the Carmel Ethics Commission. She serves on the energy committee and the environmental committee of the Indiana Manufacturers Association and the environmental committee of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, and sits on the Advisory Council of Youth Philanthropy Indy. Miriam has also served on the boards of the Governmental Affairs Society of Indiana and Second Helpings.
