The ideal candidate will have a background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an advanced degree in Chemical or Biotech fields. This role involves managing patent applications, preparing patents, and conducting patentability assessments. The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of patent law and intellectual property, along with superior communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file patent applications.
  • Conduct patentability assessments and due diligence.
  • Evaluate the viability of patent requests and oversee the patent application process.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of scientific, technological, and legal developments.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, including continuing legal education.
  • Advise clients on patent law matters and intellectual property strategies.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an advanced degree in Chemical or Biotech fields.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law and in good standing.
  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Previous experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or tech transfer office is preferred.
