Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking an experienced attorney to join its dedicated team specializing in addressing Title IX, civil rights, and compliance issues. This role involves working closely with educational institutions, corporations, and non-profits to ensure fair, trauma-informed practices and regulatory adherence while supporting clients in fostering safe and inclusive environments. The position offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to policy development, investigations, and systemic solutions without engaging in litigation.

Duties:

  • Conduct investigations under Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, and other civil rights or criminal laws addressing:
    • Sexual and gender-based harassment and violence
    • Protected class discrimination and harassment
    • Child or elder abuse
  • Assist institutions or governmental agencies in implementing fair, trauma-informed prevention and resolution processes.
  • Develop and refine written policies, procedures, and educational materials.
  • Guide regulatory compliance, including Title IX, the Clery Act, and child protection frameworks.
  • Support clients with systems design, policy implementation, governance issues, and resolution processes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic solutions to clients.
  • Engage in leadership activities to represent the firm’s expertise within the practice area.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in California.
  • Proven experience in:
    • Investigating matters related to civil rights or criminal laws.
    • Advising on sexual and gender-based misconduct and protected class discrimination.
    • Regulatory compliance related to Title IX, the Clery Act, or child protection laws.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in Title IX and other regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Advanced understanding of civil rights laws and trauma-informed practices.
  • Leadership and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
