Job Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid)

Job Overview: A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Attorney to join its Energy, Environmental, Mining, and Transportation Division in Minneapolis. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in regulatory counseling or litigation, specifically focusing on environmental or energy law. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex legal matters, collaborate with federal agencies, and advise clients in various industries including transportation, manufacturing, and mining.

Duties:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs for litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Manage e-discovery processes and conduct factual investigations.
  • Advise clients on federal environmental statutes (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, RCRA).
  • Provide compliance support and training related to environmental and energy regulations.
  • Participate in rulemaking processes, permitting, and enforcement actions.
  • Led teams of attorneys in litigated and regulatory matters.
  • Develop and implement strategies to resolve complex legal challenges.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients in the transportation, manufacturing, and mining sectors.
  • Stay current on industry trends and identify new business opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental or energy law, focusing on regulatory counseling or litigation.
  • A plus is a strong experience working with federal agencies such as the EPA or the Department of Justice.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing legal teams.
  • Proven track record in advising clients on major federal statutes and regulatory schemes.
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Active license to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction, or ability to waive into practice.
  • Strong research and communication abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in MN (or ability to waive in).

Skills:

  • Regulatory and litigation expertise in energy or environmental law.
  • Knowledge of federal environmental regulations and statutes.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve complex legal issues.
  • Client relationship management.
