A prominent law firm is seeking a highly skilled Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join its growing team. This position involves managing U.S. patent applications, particularly in the fields of Electronics and Software. Fluency in Japanese and English is required, as the role will involve close collaboration with the firm’s Tokyo office.

Duties:

  • Manage and prosecute U.S. patent applications, focusing on electronics and software-related technologies.
  • Draft and file patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Advise clients on patentability, infringement, and other intellectual property matters.
  • Coordinate with foreign counsel and clients, particularly in Japan, to ensure efficient handling of cross-border matters.
  • Conduct patent searches, analyze prior art, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of developments in patent law and technology trends.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in U.S. patent prosecution, particularly in electronics and software.
  • Fluency in both Japanese and English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience interacting with international clients, especially in Japan.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Education:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required.

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registered Patent Attorney.
