Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Family Law Attorney to join their team in the Charleston/Beaufort, SC area. Duties:

  • Handle the division of marital assets during divorce proceedings, including real estate and financial accounts.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, mediations, and depositions.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to ensure smooth case progression and quality work.
  • Conduct consultations with potential clients to assess their needs and recommend next steps.
  • Manage case files and ensure timely progress through regular case reviews and updates.
  • Perform quality control on legal work, ensuring clarity and compliance with case law.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.
  • 4+ years of experience handling family law cases in a law firm setting.
  • Proficient in managing billable hours and tracking time on client matters.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, particularly in high-stress and emotional situations.
  • Ability to work independently on cases while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to travel locally around Charleston, Beaufort, and surrounding areas for court appearances and mediations.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in managing daily priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex family law issues.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of South Carolina.

Certifications:

  • Active South Carolina Bar membership (required).
