Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking an experienced eDiscovery Solutions Counsel – Litigation Services to apply advanced knowledge of technical and legal eDiscovery strategies directly to case teams and firm clients throughout all stages of the discovery process. The ideal candidate will serve as a key resource for strategic legal analysis on litigation procedures and eDiscovery issues at the intersection of law and technology. This role involves staying current with legal and technical trends, such as TAR and Generative AI, to ensure comprehensive guidance is provided to attorneys, clients, and staff. The eDiscovery Solutions Counsel will act as the primary liaison between client eDiscovery teams and case teams, leading efforts to streamline production and optimize results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply advanced eDiscovery strategies and knowledge to case teams and clients, ensuring effective management throughout all discovery stages.
  • Serve as a resource for strategic legal analysis relating to general litigation procedure and eDiscovery issues.
  • Remain updated on legal and technical trends, including TAR and Generative AI, to provide current guidance.
  • Act as the primary liaison between client eDiscovery teams/counsel and case teams, ensuring client requirements and protocols are executed effectively.
  • Train and educate case team members and staff on client directives related to eDiscovery from both technical and legal perspectives.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline production efforts and optimize results proactively.
  • Prepare, present, and moderate client-facing Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions, focusing on firm innovation and strategy in eDiscovery.
  • Design and develop client-facing materials, such as eDiscovery playbooks and bulletins, highlighting technical and legal strategies.
  • Advise on strategies for identifying key custodians and sources of Electronically Stored Information (ESI), including structured and unstructured data.
  • Lead data mapping calls with clients and their IT teams, exploring data sources and addressing potential challenges.
  • Educate attorneys and staff on effective eDiscovery strategies.
  • Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of ESI management and processing as it relates to legal matters, utilizing various ESI management and review tools.
  • Exhibit extensive knowledge of eDiscovery review platforms and related technologies such as Relativity, Nuix, Brainspace, NexLP, Disco, and other industry-leading tools.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or an equivalent degree.
  • Admission to the relevant State Bar.
  • Minimum of 10 years of litigation practice experience, including management of discovery.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing large electronic document reviews and productions.
  • Experience in white-collar investigations and regulatory matters is preferred.
  • Experience with litigation response, electronic discovery, or records management issues is preferable.
  • Client-facing experience is desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of eDiscovery management concepts, principles, and processing.
  • Proficiency in eDiscovery review platforms and related technologies.
