Energy Associate Attorney

A law firm in Albany, New York, is seeking an Energy Associate Attorney with knowledge of New York and federal energy regulatory frameworks. The candidate will participate in regulatory proceedings, advise clients on energy regulatory issues, and represent clients in utility matters.

Duties:

• Participate in proceedings before state and federal regulatory agencies
• Advise clients on complex energy regulatory issues, asset divestiture, and acquisition transactions
• Represent clients in matters involving utilities and electric system operators
• Assist clients in evaluating energy procurement options
• Engage in generation and transmission development and siting
• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on contracts, including power purchase agreements and asset purchase and sale agreements
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Admitted to practice in New York
• 3+ years of experience in energy law
• Excellent writing skills
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Superior attention to detail and organizational skills

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

Admission to practice law in New York

Skills:

• Knowledge of New York and federal energy regulatory frameworks
• Legal research and writing abilities
• Negotiation and contract drafting skills
• Client counseling and representation abilities
