A law firm in Philadelphia, PA is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Attorney with 5+ years of experience in retirement and welfare benefit plans. The role involves advising clients on ongoing benefits work and addressing benefits issues in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), business transactions, and financings. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, relevant law firm experience, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Bar admission in Pennsylvania (or eligibility for prompt admission) is required.

Job Details:

  • Advise clients on a wide range of employee benefit plans, including retirement and welfare benefit plans.
  • Provide counsel on benefits-related matters arising in M&A transactions, business reorganizations, and financing activities.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employee benefit plan documents, including plan amendments and compliance-related materials.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, tax, and regulatory requirements governing employee benefit plans.
  • Collaborate with clients, accountants, consultants, and other professionals to address complex benefits issues effectively.
  • Stay updated on legal developments and regulations impacting employee benefits law and advise clients accordingly.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to employee benefit plans, such as filings and plan governance.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 5+ years of experience practicing employee benefits law, with expertise in retirement and welfare benefit plans.
  • Solid understanding of ERISA, tax laws, and regulatory frameworks relevant to employee benefit plans.
  • Prior experience in a law firm preferred; experience in an accounting firm or consulting firm with employee benefits focus may be considered.
  • Excellent academic credentials demonstrating high achievement in legal education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar in good standing (or eligibility for prompt admission).
