Employment Attorney

A law firm in Kansas City, MO is seeking an experienced Employment Attorney to provide legal support and advice to the firm’s business, higher education, and nonprofit clients on employment and traditional labor law matters. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both advising and litigation roles, with strong academic credentials, exceptional analytical and writing abilities, and excellent client service and interpersonal skills.

Duties:

• Provide legal support and advice on employment law matters to business, higher education, and nonprofit clients.
• Offer counsel on traditional labor law issues, including labor relations, grievance arbitration, and collective bargaining.
• Conduct comprehensive research and write briefs, prepare pleadings, and draft policies.
• Investigate misconduct complaints and prepare responses to charges.
• Advise clients on employment-related issues, including policy drafting and compliance.
• Handle matters before state agencies and the National Labor Relations Board.
• Collaborate with clients and colleagues in a professional and supportive environment.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of employment law experience, including advising and litigation roles.
• At least 4 to 6 years of traditional labor law experience, including client counseling on labor relations, grievance arbitration, collective bargaining, and union campaigns.
• Proven experience in research, brief writing, preparation of pleadings, and policy drafting.
• Strong academic credentials and exceptional analytical and writing abilities.
• Excellent client service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Bar License in Missouri (required).
