Attorney needed for Salt Lake City office

Job Overview
A growing litigation defense firm in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Attorney to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse caseload including general liability, products liability, executive liability, and business litigation. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of general insurance defense experience and be licensed in Utah, with a strong interest in growing within a collaborative, forward-thinking legal team.

Duties

• Manage a caseload involving various types of insurance defense matters, including medical malpractice, general liability, products liability, premises liability, and professional/business litigation

• Draft and handle pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and court orders

• Conduct and respond to written discovery and dispositive motions

• Prepare for and take depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

• Perform legal research and provide case evaluations and status updates

• Assist in trial preparation, attend mediations, and make court appearances

• Maintain communication with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, and internal legal teams

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in general insurance defense litigation

• Licensed to practice in Utah state and federal courts

• Ability to manage multiple cases across different litigation stages

• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently or collaboratively

• Knowledge of state and federal litigation procedures

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of Utah

• Additional state bar admissions are advantageous
