Job Overview

A prestigious law firm in Washington, DC, seeks a motivated Junior Tax Associate Attorney to join its Affordable Housing and Tax Credit Team. This role presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic legal practice, representing clients in the development, acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, operation, and sale of affordable multifamily housing utilizing various federal, state, and local housing programs.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel to developers, investors, and financial institutions on tax matters related to affordable housing projects.

  • Assist in structuring transactions involving federal income tax credits and partnership taxation.

  • Draft and review transactional documents, agreements, and contracts.

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on tax laws and regulations.

  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to navigate complex tax credit financing.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state tax regulations.

Requirements

  • Admission to the DC Bar or eligibility for admission.

  • Strong understanding of partnership taxation and federal income tax credits.

  • Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and organizational abilities.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting preferred.

  • LLM in Taxation is strongly preferred.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with any State Bar.

Skills

  • Proficiency in tax law and financial structuring related to affordable housing.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

  • Strong client relationship management and negotiation skills.

  • Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
