A law firm in Christiansburg, VA, is seeking a highly experienced Community Associations Law Attorney with a deep understanding of governing documents, association governance, and real estate transactions.

Job Duties:

  • Interpret governing documents and provide expert guidance on association governance issues.
  • Prepare amendments to governing documents and address fair housing compliance.
  • Represent developers, lenders, landlords, and community associations in legal matters.
  • Manage commercial real estate transactions, including acquisition, purchase, financing, and leasing.
  • Assist in community association formation, registration, governance, and compliance for residential, commercial, and mixed-use condominiums.
  • Review, analyze, negotiate, and draft agreements, deeds, loan documents, leases, declarations, and covenants.
  • Supervise and coordinate with legal support staff to ensure timely closings and meet milestones.
  • Conduct specialized training for boards of directors, committees, and managers on legal matters.

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in Virginia.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in community association law, focusing on interpreting governing documents, governance issues, and real estate transactions.
  • Active involvement in the community associations industry, including participation in organizations like the Community Associations Institute (CAI), teaching engagements, and publishing articles.
  • Strong knowledge of community association law, real estate law, and related legal areas.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to persevere through complex legal challenges.
