Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled mid-level or senior associate attorney (Class of 2022 or earlier) to join its Employment Practice in New York. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse array of employment law matters, including drafting employment agreements, separation contracts, restrictive covenants, and policies. The ideal candidate will be experienced in counseling clients on employment-related issues and providing support for corporate transactions. Experience with employment litigation and investigations is beneficial but not required.

Duties

  • Draft and review employment-related documents such as employment agreements, separation agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, and company policies.
  • Counsel clients on a variety of employment law issues, including compliance with regulations and employee relations.
  • Provide employment-related legal support for corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.
  • Assist with employment investigations, offering advice on best practices and potential legal concerns.
  • Support clients in navigating employment litigation, if applicable, and contribute to case strategy.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment law developments and provide proactive guidance to clients.

Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in employment law, with a strong background in drafting employment agreements and counseling clients.
  • Experience in employment litigation and investigations is a plus but not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a practical approach to resolving client concerns.
  • Capacity to work independently while also collaborating with other team members on various matters.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility to obtain admission).

Skills

  • Strong drafting skills, especially related to employment contracts and policies.
  • Expertise in advising clients on a wide range of employment-related matters.
  • Ability to support corporate transactions from an employment law perspective.
  • Knowledge of employment litigation and investigative processes is a plus.
  • High level of attention to detail, organization, and time management.
