Job Overview:

A well-established law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Attorney for its General Liability practice group. This role offers an exciting opportunity for motivated legal professionals to contribute to a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills and a keen interest in general liability and defense litigation. This position involves a range of responsibilities including legal research, client representation, and trial preparation.

Duties:

• Conduct thorough file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
• Engage in extensive legal research and draft briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Handle discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Represent clients in court, depositions, and arbitrations.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare for and attend trials as necessary.
• Some travel may be required based on case demands.
• Maintain an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1+ years of experience in general liability and defense litigation.
• Strong legal research, writing, and litigation skills.
• Must be admitted to practice law in Illinois.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage tasks independently while contributing to a team environment.
• Proficiency in managing client relationships and responding promptly to inquiries.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Illinois.
