Complex Civil Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Greenbelt, MD, is seeking a Complex Civil Litigation Associate Attorney with at least 1 year of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will handle a variety of responsibilities including legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, conducting depositions, assisting in hearings and trials, and providing litigation support. Judicial clerkship experience is preferred, and candidates must be licensed to practice law in Maryland.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex civil litigation matters.
• Screen and evaluate potential cases, including assessing legal and factual issues.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
• Assist in preparation for hearings, trials, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
• Interact with clients to provide legal advice, updates, and strategic counsel.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on case strategy and development.
• Manage discovery processes, including document production and review.
• Handle other litigation support duties as assigned by supervising attorneys.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Maryland State Bar and in good standing.
• 1+ years of experience in complex civil litigation, preferably with exposure to a wide range of litigation tasks.
• Judicial clerkship experience in state or federal court is a plus.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to and active membership in the Maryland State Bar.
