Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm in Washington, D.C., is seeking a mid-level associate attorney to join its Financial Institutions Group. This position involves working on complex regulatory matters related to financial institutions, including compliance and advisory work in key areas such as banking, derivatives, and investment regulation.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance related to banks, bank holding companies, and foreign banking institutions.
  • Guide broker-dealer regulations, swap dealer/derivatives compliance, and investment adviser/investment company regulations.
  • Handle matters involving collateral, collateral enforcement, and creditors’ rights regulations.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed regulatory analyses.
  • Represent clients in interactions with regulatory authorities and during compliance audits.
  • Draft and review legal documentation, including advisory opinions and compliance memos.

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in regulatory law, specifically in one or more areas such as banking, derivatives, investment companies, or creditors' rights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to handle complex regulatory frameworks.
  • Membership in good standing with the Washington, D.C., or New York Bar.
  • Exceptional legal drafting and communication abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a highly accredited law school.
  • Strong academic performance with a proven track record of excellence.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Washington, D.C., or New York Bar is mandatory.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of financial institution regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and client management skills for building and maintaining relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
