Job Title: Veterans Benefits Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A prominent law firm located in Norfolk, VA, is seeking a dedicated and motivated Associate Attorney to join its Veterans Benefits practice group. This position offers an exciting opportunity to represent veterans and their families in navigating the complexities of disability claims and various other benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs. The attorney will also represent clients before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

Duties:

  • Represent veterans and their dependents in disability and benefits claims before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
  • Handle appeals and litigation before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
  • Draft clear and persuasive legal documents, including briefs and pleadings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide legal counsel.
  • Advocate for clients in oral hearings and ensure optimal outcomes in their cases.
  • Manage a large caseload with attention to detail and timely completion of all tasks.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys and support staff to deliver comprehensive legal services to veterans.

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in advocating for disabled veterans and their families.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and oral advocacy skills.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with veterans or handling veterans’ benefits claims is a plus.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia.
