A law firm in Newport Beach, CA, is seeking a Junior- to Mid-Level Intellectual Property Litigation (Patent) Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience handling patent litigation before U.S. district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), or the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). The role requires a strong technical background, with preferred qualifications including an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or physics. An advanced degree or relevant industry experience is a plus, and membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in patent litigation matters before U.S. district courts, the ITC, and the PTAB.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategies, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, and preparing case briefs.
  • Prepare, review, and file pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Manage discovery processes, including document review, deposition preparation, and coordinating with experts.
  • Participate in trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings, effectively presenting evidence and legal arguments.
  • Collaborate with clients, technical experts, and senior attorneys to develop and support patent litigation cases.
  • Analyze complex technical and legal information to craft effective litigation strategies.
  • Stay informed about developments in patent law, litigation trends, and relevant technological advancements.
  • Maintain meticulous case files and documentation, ensuring adherence to legal and procedural requirements.

Requirements:

  • Experience with patent litigation before U.S. district courts, the ITC, or the PTAB.
  • Preferred educational background includes an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced degree or industry experience in a relevant technical field is a plus.
  • Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.

Education:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical field is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.
