A law firm in Newark, NJ, is seeking an experienced Senior Real Estate Attorney with a strong background in commercial real estate transactions. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in real estate financing, leasing, and complex acquisitions, with a preference for those with redevelopment experience in New Jersey.

Duties:

  • Handle complex commercial real estate lending transactions, particularly on the borrower side.
  • Independently negotiate substantive provisions of loan agreements, guarantees, and other loan documentation.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review sophisticated commercial leases for landlords and tenants.
  • Lead negotiations on purchase and sale agreements for complex real estate acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Advise clients on various real estate matters, including financing, leasing, and acquisition strategies.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to provide clients with top-tier legal services.
  • Stay up-to-date with New Jersey and New York real estate laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a commercial real estate attorney, with substantial experience in complex lending transactions.
  • Significant experience negotiating loan agreements, guarantees, and other related documents.
  • Strong background in commercial leasing, with experience on both the landlord and tenant side.
  • Experience negotiating purchase and sale agreements concerning complex real estate transactions.
  • Admission to practice law in New Jersey, New York, or both.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple, high-stakes transactions simultaneously.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of local real estate markets and applicable laws in New Jersey and New York.
  • Experience with redevelopment projects in New Jersey is a bonus.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Admission to both New Jersey and New York is preferred but not required.
