Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in Denver, CO, is seeking an Environmental Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, and enforcement. This position will involve working across a variety of environmental law areas, including air and water quality, waste management, brownfields redevelopment, and worker health and safety. The firm is looking for a motivated and entrepreneurial individual who can balance multiple areas of environmental law while contributing to the growth of the practice.

Location:

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on environmental compliance and permitting issues.
  • Handle enforcement matters, including regulatory and enforcement actions.
  • Work on legal issues related to air and water quality, hazardous wastes, cleanup and cost allocation, and spills/releases.
  • Assist in brownfields redevelopment projects and worker health & safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to devise strategies for regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Support complex environmental litigation, if applicable, though experience in this area is preferred but not required.
  • Contribute to the firm's environmental law practice growth through business development and client relationships.
  • Draft legal documents, including memos, motions, and compliance reports.
  • Stay current with changes in environmental regulations and laws at the federal, state, and local levels.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in environmental law, with a focus on compliance, permitting, and enforcement.
  • Experience or interest in complex environmental litigation is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental law topics, such as air/water quality, waste management, brownfields redevelopment, spills/releases, and worker health & safety.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar (Colorado preferred, but open to other jurisdictions).

Skills:

  • Expertise in environmental compliance, permitting, and enforcement.
  • Knowledge of environmental litigation processes (preferred).
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
