The law firm is seeking a qualified and experienced Mid-level Patent Agent to join their team in Dallas. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background, solid law firm or industry experience, excellent communication skills, and expertise in patent prosecution, specifically in electrical engineering or computer science. The candidate should also have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and be admitted to the USPTO.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent searches and analyses for electrical engineering or computer science-related technologies.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to gather necessary information for patent preparation.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on patent-related matters.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • 4+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Admission to the USPTO.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
  • Data science, AI, or networking technologies, with a focus on network security.
  • Machine learning/artificial intelligence, particularly in conjunction with data science.
  • Hardware security.

 

Skills:

  • Strong academic background with a high level of achievement.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in conducting patent searches and analyses.
  • Expertise in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Technical proficiency in electrical engineering, computer science, data science, AI, or networking technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate with inventors and attorneys.
  • Analytical skills for patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
