A law firm in Richmond is seeking an experienced Environmental Attorney with 5+ years of experience to provide legal counsel on a wide range of environmental matters. The candidate will regularly interface with colleagues and clients, advising on mergers and acquisitions, permitting, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, emerging contaminants, renewable energy projects, and more.

 

Duties:

  • Interface with colleagues across offices and practice groups, as well as engage directly with clients.
  • Advise on matters related to mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, tax credits, and financing.
  • Handle permitting issues concerning stormwater, air, and water emissions.
  • Provide counsel on risk mitigation strategies and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Address emerging contaminants and advise on renewable energy projects.
  • Navigate the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong writing and communication skills.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental law experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • Experience with federal environmental laws and standards, including CERCLA, NEPA, RCRA, TSCA, FIFRA, CWA, and CAA.
  • Familiarity with state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with pollution legal liability insurance and prior defense sites preferred.
  • Portable business preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of environmental laws and regulations.
  • Strong experience advising clients on transactional matters and risk management.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex environmental issues.
