Junior Litigator

Job Overview: A law firm in New York City is seeking a Junior Litigator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in business litigation, with a strong background in writing and research. Experience in securities arbitration, regulatory inquiries, or investigations is a plus. The candidate should be a self-starter capable of managing their own caseload and have experience in depositions, with oral argument experience being advantageous.

Duties:

• Manage and handle a caseload of business litigation matters in New York State and/or Federal Courts.
• Conduct legal research and draft high-quality legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Prepare and argue motions, manage discovery processes, and provide legal analysis on complex issues.
• Participate in depositions as first or second chair, including preparing witnesses and conducting examinations.
• Assist in the preparation of cases for trial, including organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and drafting trial briefs.
• Handle regulatory inquiries and investigations, with a focus on securities arbitration experience as applicable.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Stay updated on legal developments relevant to assigned cases and areas of practice.
• Work collaboratively with senior attorneys and other team members to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
• Provide support in all aspects of litigation, including case strategy, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in New York State.
• 2-4 years of business litigation experience in New York State and/or Federal Courts.
• Experience with securities arbitration, regulatory inquiries, or investigations is a plus.
• Proven ability to handle depositions, with experience as first or second chair.
• Strong writing and research skills with the ability to draft detailed and persuasive legal documents.
• Experience or demonstrated capability in oral arguments is advantageous.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize a caseload effectively.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in New York State.

Skills:

• Strong legal writing and research capabilities.
• Experience in depositions, including first or second chair involvement.
• Knowledge of business litigation and related legal procedures.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases efficiently.
