Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a detail-oriented and highly skilled Immigration Attorney to join its team in Henrico, VA. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in legal research and writing who is passionate about immigration law and appellate advocacy. The position involves drafting persuasive legal documents, handling appellate matters, and contributing to federal litigation efforts.

Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on complex immigration matters, including statutory and case law analysis.
  • Draft compelling trial briefs, motions, and legal memoranda for submission to immigration courts.
  • Prepare appellate briefs and responses for cases before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) and U.S. Courts of Appeals.
  • Draft and file mandamus actions and habeas corpus petitions in the U.S. District Court to address unlawful detention and processing delays.
  • Assist in developing legal arguments for petitions for review before federal courts.
  • Stay informed on evolving immigration laws, regulations, and policies to ensure effective legal advocacy.
  • Collaborate with fellow attorneys and legal staff to develop strategic approaches for complex cases.
  • Maintain meticulous case files and ensure the timely submission of legal documents.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in legal research and persuasive legal writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex immigration laws and policies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interactions and court submissions.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Virginia (Required).
