A law firm seeks an experienced Eminent Domain Attorney to join its expanding team in Charlotte, North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling eminent domain matters, including trial experience and client-focused representation. Duties:

  • Consult with prospective clients and advise them on the benefits of legal representation in eminent domain cases.
  • Conduct detailed reviews and analyses of offers, appraisals, and project plans related to eminent domain actions.
  • Represent clients in court, attending hearings, and advocating for their interests in eminent domain disputes.
  • Lead negotiations and work toward resolving eminent domain cases both before and after litigation has been filed.
  • Try eminent domain cases before a civil jury, demonstrating strong courtroom presence and litigation skills.
  • Manage and supervise paralegals, providing guidance and directing their work on case preparation and client communication.
  • Present cases persuasively to various stakeholders, including residential, business, and commercial property owners.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by keeping clients informed and offering high-quality, responsive service throughout the litigation process.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in eminent domain law in North Carolina.
  • Proven experience in trying eminent domain cases in North Carolina.
  • Current licensure to practice law in North Carolina.
  • Strong client-facing skills with an ability to build trust and provide clear legal counsel.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve complex eminent domain matters before and during litigation.
  • Detail-oriented with a balanced approach to managing case specifics and the bigger picture.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in writing and in presentations, with the ability to speak persuasively to various audiences.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a busy legal environment.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in an independent, remote work setting.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the North Carolina State Bar.

  • Proven experience in civil litigation, especially in eminent domain and property rights.
