Job Overview:

A well-regarded law firm is seeking a junior associate to join its Trusts & Estate Planning practice within the Business Law Department in Boston. The ideal candidate will have experience in estate planning and preferably estate administration. Special consideration will be given to those with experience advising corporate entities and their principals on estate planning in the context of corporate transactions. The role requires excellent project management skills and the ability to handle a variety of assignments with a high degree of responsibility.

Location:

  • Boston, MA

Duties:

  • Assist in developing and implementing estate plans for individuals, families, and business owners.
  • Advise clients on trust and estate planning matters, including tax implications, asset protection, and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Work on estate administration matters, including probate, trust administration, and post-death tax issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients on corporate transactions involving estate planning components.
  • Manage various aspects of client matters and transactions, ensuring efficient and effective service.
  • Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents.
  • Conduct legal research and provide counsel on relevant estate planning and trust issues.
  • Provide guidance on charitable giving, including the creation of charitable trusts and foundations.

Requirements:

  • Experience in estate planning, with a preference for candidates with estate administration experience.
  • Experience advising corporate entities on estate planning issues is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in Massachusetts (or eligibility to obtain admission promptly).

Skills:

  • Expertise in estate planning and trust administration.
  • Familiarity with tax planning related to estates, trusts, and charitable giving.
  • Ability to advise clients on complex estate planning matters.
  • Strong drafting skills, including experience with wills, trusts, and related documents.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and effective manner.
  • Experience working in a team environment with other legal professionals.
