Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Southwest Michigan is currently looking for a highly motivated Transactional Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of transactional tasks, including corporate, real estate, and estate planning work. This position will involve collaboration with senior attorneys, both locally and across other offices in Michigan and Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to the firm's growth and success.

Duties:

  • Assist with corporate and real estate legal matters, including mergers, acquisitions, contracts, and related activities.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements for commercial real estate transactions, including leases, purchase and sale agreements, and financing arrangements.
  • Conduct research and prepare legal memos for review by senior attorneys.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs for legal proceedings.
  • Maintain and organize documents; assist in document coding and database management for case documents.
  • Meet with clients to understand their needs and draft necessary documents such as Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, and business planning documents.
  • Provide advice on estate, gift, and income tax matters, with a focus on estate and tax planning for high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Handle estate administration matters, including preparing and filing probate documents, managing fiduciary tax returns, and providing counsel on trust and estate settlement.
  • Support other attorneys as needed in the execution of these responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of estate planning, estate and gift tax law, business succession planning, and corporate and real estate law.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues with maturity and confidence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to summarize and simplify complex problems and solutions for clients.
  • High intellectual capacity, demonstrated by academic success or relevant work experience.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile to complete tasks.
  • Solid organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficient in online legal research tools and legal resources.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited law school.

Certifications:
