A law firm seeks a junior to mid-level Energy Associate to join their Real Estate, Energy, Land Use & Environmental practice group. This position involves working on complex energy law matters, including regulatory compliance and renewable energy transactions, with opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on energy-related transactions, focusing on renewable energy projects and regulatory compliance.
  • Advise clients on matters involving regional transmission organizations and energy regulations.
  • Handle federal regulatory issues, including those related to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
  • Engage in legal research, draft legal documents, and communicate findings to clients and team members.
  • Collaborate with the legal team on sophisticated energy law matters while managing independent responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of specialized experience in energy law, particularly in renewable energy projects and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with regional transmission organizations and energy regulations; experience with natural gas pipelines is a plus.
  • Preference for candidates with experience handling FERC-related matters.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to juggle multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Commitment to staying informed about developments in the energy sector.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in Washington, D.C., or California (or ability to promptly obtain admission in either jurisdiction).

  • Advanced legal research, analytical, and writing capabilities.
