A law firm in Cerritos, CA, is seeking a Student Services and Disabilities Associate Attorney to support senior associates, of counsel, and partners in the Student Services and Disabilities Law Practice Group (SSDLPG).

 

Job Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on student services and disabilities law issues.
  • Draft legal memoranda, opinions, and briefs related to student rights, disabilities accommodations, and educational law.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of educational policies, contracts, and agreements.
  • Provide support in negotiations and dispute resolutions involving educational institutions, students, and parents.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys in case strategy development and client counseling.
  • Attend client meetings, hearings, and other legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Maintain client relationships and ensure high levels of client satisfaction through effective communication and responsiveness.
  • Stay updated on developments in student services, disabilities law, and educational regulations.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility for admission through reciprocity.
  • 2-5 years of experience practicing in student services, disabilities law, or related fields.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and professionalism.

 

Preferred Certifications:

Certification or coursework in education law, disabilities law, or related areas is a plus.
